Was fun taking the train home, never Benn on a train before. Couldn't bring my bike with me so I had to ride the trek around town for a few days. Haven't rode anything with squish in a long time. It was kinda fun but slow. the trails were in good shape rode well.Got back to MT on Tuesday went to work Wednesday and they closed the job site down for three days cause people were tracking mud all over the base. kinda sucks but not much you can do. I know it wont stay but it still sucks. Ive been enjoying the warmer weather as of late. There was a small tt car race in town the other day. It was put on by the scca (sports car club of America). There was a bunch of locals out trying there import racers and maybe a few who brought there moms car. It was fun to watch on a nice Saturday afternoon. Got some vids butt my camera has been not likening me lately.
Went out on a the Wednesday night group ride the other day. It was fun 10 people showed up including 2 women. a lot of nice bikes and one from wall mart(no joke). Everyone out here seems to roll the 20mm thru axel on the front. Not sure if it makes a big difference but they all roll them out here. Some people don't like the whole rigid thing out here. Most every one that showed up was rolling full setups(Including the wall mart bike), I know sad. I got to talking to the one guy with a pair, riding a redline 29er rigid ss, He was cool. the trail is alot of up and down and very bumpy. It was fun on the climbs passing people on there full suspension bikes bouncing around.
it was a good day.
oh and that kid on the wall mart bike kept up the whole time and rode better then me(I ain't afraid to say it)
no pics for now but there might be something cool to take a pic of real soon!!! lol stay tuned

930 miles

sitting here 930 miles away from river side park. kinda wish I was back in town some times. I've been in Montana since February 1. The weather has been nice but its supposed to snow a bunch tomorrow. Ive been putting some miles on the bike when I have time. Between work and fishing trout on the weekends I don't have ass much time as back home. Plus I don't know the back trails like back home. New stuff is always good but Its not the same riding on a trail and not seeing a tree for hours. Plus the bike has been in need of some repair lately. Last summer we wernt working much so that left my lots of time to ride. nothing major has broke just lots of Little shit.

bent my seat post until the metal started flaking off. The seat just had a Little rip in it but it got some water in the pad once or twice and it was going south. and Some new bearings and some cones for the back rim. Plus I had all the nipples replaced in the front wheel cause they started breaking. Ive been drooling over some nice road bikes Ive seen around here. The weather has been in the high 50's most ever day since we got here. There was a good snow pack when we got here but that melted off a few weeks ago. Work has been going good and we are getting paid on time this year. I've gotten some good miles on the bike so far out here. Most of the dirt trails are still a little wet but should be good to go soon. The paved trails in town are even better then last year. They added a few short trails that connect all the trail together.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444257638716399122" style="DISPLAY: block; Ben out enjoying the snow so far this winter. Didn't know if I wanted to stud up some tires this year but that rain storm a week ago made up my mind for me. I took my kenda tire and put some sheet metal screws in it. It makes it fun to ride on ice. Think I'm still going to big sky country in January for work. Might be out there for a little bit longer this time.
made another video of me feeding my fish.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihf2cb8dNSU

trail video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGntur6ifZw
some video of the trails down below boy scout bridge. took forever to upload.

new trails

Been working on some kinda new trails on this side of town(north side). Went to hillside down in elk river last Saturday with a buddy. Never been there before but it was a lot of fun. Lots of hills towards the end. I liked all the man made bridges and skinny's. rode a full lap then went to sonic drive in and went back for a few laps around the first 2 sections of trail. The weather was all most too nice for November, shorts and a tee shirt. Seen nothing but top end bikes in the parking lot and on the trails. Lots of people where out there enjoying the nice weather and the trail. There was a race there a week earlier so the trail was cleared of leaves in most places. got a few pics and some short vids that I put into one clip on the tube. The weather has kinda sucked the last few weeks. Not much going on with me lately, just working and riding. I have been having lots of fun doing the Monday night rides lately. Haven't crushed my jewels or hit a tree. Last Monday I was having a good time but my ghetto light died in 45 minutes. Well not the light but the battery. Got too figure something out for a better battery only being able to do one lap with the light sucks. I also figured out a way to mount my camera to my bars and get some videos of the local trails. Was at quarry park trying to get some good shots but my tire sprung a leak so I bailed out. Speaking of that my cassette on my bike is wore out AGAIN. Just got a new one earlier this year. It all ready skips when I pedal too hard. Not handy when trying to keep up with people.

Went to a fish auction in bloomington last weekend. But this is Minnesota and anything is possible. Its Monday and I'm thinking about doing the Monday night ride, but not sure. I don't seem to have much fun going fast as hell through the woods at night. But its always a good challenge to keep up with some of the people that show up.

Went out to st. johns to ride some trails last Tuesday. Haven't been out there in a long time. the trail were fast and flowing but there was a lot of big sticks on the trail trying to get up in my spokes and break something. Didn't break a spoke but did pick up a micro thorn that took me awhile to find in the tire. lucky for me it was a slow leek cause I dint bring a pump or a patch. It was a fun ride, didn't bring my camera either. Was getting a little hungry at the end and then I spotted a big apple tree on campus. Them were some good apples.

I also maneged to break my seat post clamp trying to tighten it. It was the bolt that sheered off in the clamp. I some how maneged to get the rest of the bolt out. Ace hardware had a replacement for 90cents.

I go to go try to get my ghetto lite working for later.

down but not out(seat post clamp)
a ninner with a lefty hmmm, kinda sweet

some pics

couple shots of my tanks. Its not gonna stop for a few more days. The weather report said this storm would effect livestock, wtf is that. all I know is I'm ready for summer all ready. went fro a ride the other day before it snowed out. It was the planned Wednesday night ride. Not one local showed up, it didn't help the wind was blowing at 45 mph gust. rode with the wind down the trail for a few miles down hill. yep so the way back was in to the wind and up hill the whole way. make me want to be back home more. had my rear rim trued again due to another broken nipple( #3). the lbs was busy as could be but they still got my rim fixed in 10 minutes for $10. That makes feel like I'm at rev, just some good service. Got a new rear tire while I was there, a kenda nevengal. my tires cant handle some of the loose gravel on the trails around here. also I seen a group of riders way out of town on our way to a fishing spot. must have been 10 people and they must have been 25 miles from anything. not much else for now just a few pics

a rainbow trout I cooked up

rice krispies

No I haven't been eating a bunch of cereal, its my rims. they are starting to sound like rice krispies when I roll. Snap, crackle and some popping going on. Maybe my fat ass shouldn't be riding a 29" rigid. Ive been looking at getting a new wheel set sometime soon. Any ideas? The weather out here has been nice all week. Its been at least 60 every day for the last week or so. the local group of riders started there Wednesday night ride again for the season. me and my buddy runny(nick name) have been out fishing a bunch since it warmed up. Haven't had a much luck yet. The locals all have there own way of fishing and so we keep getting different stories on how to go about catching anything. We have been hanging out with these guys from Tennessee that are staying in the same motel here. They are a hoot. They all play guitar and like there country music. they are cool shit though, not much else for now just some more pics.

work

not much going on out here, just working in some mud. It starts 10 miles out of town. Cameron(the guy I met online)his girl and one other guy showed up. first we rode up stream and up wind(lots of wind). It was up and down some steep ass hill that were about impossible to climb on bike. I found myself walking my bike a few times.

the way back down stream we had the wind at our backs and some crazy downhill action. No crazy drop offs or nothing but there was some crazy slimy mud. once we got back to the trail head we went down stream on another trail that was alot different. It was a sketchy single track to say the least. If you go to far left your gonna be in sum pain if you live. there were some cool boulders to go around and over. Once we got past the single track there was a big open prairie are with some trails going in a few different directions. We climbed up a slow uphill path that was covered in small rock the size of pop cans. once we got to the top and dudes girl caught up with us we turned around and went back down this trail. it was fun for about a second. After that I found myself going way to fast down a bumpy ass hill with no shocks to help a player out. Some where near the bottom the trail dips down and to the left and it was a little muddy there too. it was a little scary but fun after I made it to the bottom. The trail goes farther out but it was to muddy so we hit that single track by the river a few more times.

this is a old tnt shack that they used when they built the dam. Cameron was talking about the cactus on the trail and how they like to get in to your tire. About 100 feet away from this shack the one guys tire went completely flat. it was a good spot out of the wind to change a tire. It was fun and hopefully not the last time I get to ride out here.

I'm still alive

Yes I'm still alive, I survived the long drive out here. For one thing my laptop took a shit on me and the screen wasn't working. Best buy said it would be $200 to fix it. I laughed at the guy and left. Like I'm gonna pay the fucks $200 to fix it. They were cool until I told them I didn't have THERE warranty on it. My brothers Friend is a computer guy so I figured he would be able to help. In the end I had to use the reboot cd and re-download all the shit on my comp. But it works now and that's a good thing because I'm leaving for Montana next weekend for work. Sounds like I might be out there for a few months. Were going to great falls the same town I was in last year. I found some ok trails last year, but the last time I was there it was cold as hell out there and WINDY. Great falls is the #1 windiest city in the country according to the people that live there. The last time I was there I was riding my old Gary fisher and that didn't make it through the mud very well. This time I'm bringing the trek and the salsa. Hopefully the one bike shop in town has some group rides or something. There is a scheels in town but I'm not a big fan of scheels. I got to go get my bikes ready to go. deuces

city riding

I've been out riding most ever day for the last week. Nothing crazy long or nothing but shit has been pissing me off a little. The other day I was out on the eastside at a gas station putting some air in my tire. That back filled up fine, but the vavle in the front tube fell inside the tube when I added a little air. So it was flat as could be. I ended up walking over to fitzharris to get a new tube put on. now the last time I was at fitzharris the didn't have much of a selection of bikes. They had a nice surly crosscheck for $950 and a nice kona cx bike for $750. they had some other nice stuff to my surprise. On another day I was heading out to sartell on the river road, it was a nice day and the snow was soft maybe a little too soft.

Was rolling along fine then found a deep spot.

Today I was rolling across the bridge downtown and heading east. I got to where the Somalia's have there little coffee shop. Just on the other side this guy pulls all the way across the sidewalk to park his dented up Mazda. I f I didn't have disk brakes and the sidewalk wasn't dry I would be in the hospital rate now. Then he gets out of the car and yells something at me I couldn't understand, like I did something wrong. man I was pissed off. I kicked his car real hard, I'm sure it left a dent in his quarter panel and he fucking deserved it. other then that and work being slow as shit not much Else is going on. Sounds like we might be going out to Montana for work again in a few weeks maybe. Don't really want to go out there for a few month but their ain't much for work around here, and I know of a few good trails out there.

summer days are here

well all most. It was nice out yesterday about 40 degrees ABOVE zero. Went out for a ride and found myself riding everywhere past what my ipod batteries can handle. Started out at revolution getting a patch kit fore the flats I suffer from. Headed out to sartell and then to sauk rapids area. I like the sauk rapids area because the streets are some what clear because of all the water running down off the hills, plus there is some hills to climb. After awhile my bars came loose. They all most fell of before I made it back to my house. Got that taken care of and headed out back across the sauk rapids bridge and out to the east side and over to the prison quarry trail(pqt). The heat wave had made the snow soft and unrideable. was gona make a county road 8 run like doom talked about earlier in my day but didn't make it very far and went back. stopped by river side and saw a bunch of people enjoying the weather. one guy stopped my to ask me why mike bike didn't have a shock on it. Seemed like he knew alot about bikes but didn't understand the rigid thing. saw some people fishing the ice below the dam. Not something I would do.

after that I figured I would be able to make it out to plum creek to see how the trails are out there. I think I saw doom on the bridge but I'm not sure it was him. whoever it was, was bundled up like it was cold out.(sally) made it out to plum creek before it got dark but the trails were untouched, it looked like. It was a good day to ride and I think I got the most of it. Today its raining out which sucks, but it will clear some salt off the roads.

yep another flat

The title says it all. Got home from work and it was so nice out I had to go biking. Went out to sauk rapids area and out to the east side. Stop by at the #1 china spot again and when I left, flat tire. Lucky for me it was only about a 4 block walk. Still these flats are pissing me off. The price you have to pay for studded tires. I was riding the salsa for a few days and forgot how well the studs work. Was on my way home from my brothers place when I fell on my ass hard. My elbow is sore and I got a black and blue spot on my hip. So I had to retire the salsa again for the rest of the ice season. seen they finally had lake George cleared off for ice skating so I had to try out the studded tires on a ice rink. I didn't really care who won or lost the game. I was more happy that it was above freezing for the first time in a long time. I rolled through riverside and it was full of people sledding, skiing and snowboarding everywhere. It was nice to see that many people out doing something in the winter. Stopped by the jail trail and tried to make it down the bike path a little way, but that didn't happen. The snow was soft and not packed down like I thought it might be. After that I went over to the quarry trails by the prison. They were packed down enough to make it around on a bike. Some of the trails were a little fresh, but I stayed on the main trail. It was fun to get out and ride the salsa around a little. The trek is in need of some work and I didn't feel like riding that beast around. The salsa on the other hand was nice the in stint I left the garage with it. Big tires make it feel like a monster truck when riding(IMO). Its light and works flawlessly, a little ruff with no shock but what are you gonna do.

stupper bowl sunday

Its super bowl Sunday and its 30+ degrees outside. Its called china #1 and its located next to cobrons centennial in the strip mall. They cook every thing to order and give you about more then anyone could eat. These studded tires are fun to ride on but the flat tires are getting old. I added another layer of tape on the inside of the tire, but that didn't seem to matter. The tires are real hard to get off the rim too. Not sure if the tires are a little too small or there just made to be real tight on the rim. Having sharp screws sticking out everywhere on the tire don't help changing a flat either. Another bonus is the weather went back to Alaska mode, -20 and what not. The temp is so cold that my front shock don't hold air very long and it sucks riding on a flattened shock. The rear shock seems to ride fine but that make the bike lean forward a little. Also went to a fish auction last Saturday down in the cites. Got a new 26 gallon bow front tank and a air pump to run some sponge filters. I got the tank for $20 and the pump for $14. that's a killer deal. I wish they had a bike auction like that, I could score a bomb deal on a road bike.
I will leave you with a pic of my dog playing poker.(cash plays)

more fish

got five more angel fish from my buddy brad the other day. It was a new stem for the salsa. there was a note on the box saying they had a mishap during shipping and they were sorry. maybe another reason to buy locally , but for $16 with shipping I couldn't pass that deal up. the guy had it listed under road bike parts on ebay but said it was a mountain bike stem in the description. Ether way it fits nice and looks better than the red one that was on there, plus it might be a little lighter. The salsa weighs in at 24lb 14oz now, now if this snow would melt.

ice fishing

went ice fishing yesterday out on lake xxxx. So I decided to go over to a freinds house last night, even though it is -12 degrees outside. The cold temps din't bother me too much. I had my ski goggles on and about three layers every where else. I was cutting through the tech college parkinglot when I was thinking that this exsposed pavment was bad for my studded tires. Well about a block later I noticed the front tire was going flat in a hurry. I said fuck it and walked the rest of the way to sauk rapids cause I knew there was some cold beers waiting for me. had a good time watched the new batman flick and drank some beers poolside. Then I remmeberd the flat tire waiting for me outside. It was a coold walk home but I was happy to get out the house. now that I fixed the tire I found the fork seem blown out. It needs some new seals or something. Gonna have to go talk to the guys at revolution about that.

Im out

new to this

Well I have been sitting in the house for a few days now.
